WHAT IS HVLP?
To qualify under the term HVLP, air flowing through the Air cap must not exceed 10 psi. Generally speaking, HVLP turbine motors produce over 100 CFM (cubic feet per minute) at 3 - 8 psi. (psi = Pounds per square inch) depending on the model of motor. Compare this to a typical high pressure spray gun set-up, where 45 - 60 psi at 8 CFM would be the norm. HVLP turbines supply air at a much lower velocity producing a softer, easier to control spray. This allows you to mist the product on gently, not blast it on.
Benefits of HVLP include; less overspray and less product wastage. Transfer efficiency can be as high as 85%. The quality of finish is identical to the best high pressure spray finishes.
In some areas of the USA. (Southern California for instance) high pressure spray systems are prohibited in certain industries. All HVLP turbine systems automatically comply with all known regulations in North America.
Most of the HVLP Systems available for sunless tanning, are designed for the application of paints and finishes. They are not designed for the application of much thinner tanning solutions. They are to powerful, and the PSI is much more than needed.
The SST Tanning System is the only HVLP system on the market today, that was completely designed for the application of tanning solutions. Many company's have taken an off the shelf system and simply marketed it to the ABT industry
OK, what's the difference?
The difference is in the modifications made to the spray gun and motor. The size of the "nozzle hole" is smaller (even smaller than an Airbrush), our motor is sized to produce the correct amount of CFM needed .Other 2 Stage Turbines marketed for ABT are to powerful. The PSI at the spray gun tip is only 3.2 with our system...low compared to a typical airbrush and compressor setup and other HVLP Spray Guns. Our system reduces overspray to almost nothing because of these modifications.
The unit also comes with an 8 oz ABS plastic cup to make the gun lighter. The cup is pressurized, so you have solution coming out of the nozzle no matter the position of the gun...another big plus!
To date we have yet to have a unit fail, and the failure rate is less than 1% worldwide in all applications!
How Loud Is It?
Find the biggest wet vac you can and turn it on! Yes, it's loud. Some of our clients like it! They tell us the customer hears the unit running and feels confident that something is really happening. We have many Mobil techs using this unit and rarely get a complaint regarding the noise. The unit comes with a 14 ft hose so it can be placed away from the work area.
